Duke lost. In light of this national tragedy, I'm posting two things which make me feel better.
The first is a memory. The Shot. Ask any Duke fan about it, they'll remember where they were. How good it felt. I was in Washington DC, we were on our way back from New York. We stopped to catch up with family friends. I was 8.
I can remember the agony of watching Kentucky get the lead. The timeout. Two minutes of suspense. I was in a sleeping bag, next to my brother, eyes fixed to the TV as I watched Grant Hill lob a fullcourt pass to Laettner. The fake, and then the shot. And jubilation, our triumph doubling with every instant replay.
The second is that today, I made the Black Tide A-Team. I've been working towards this for more than seven years now.
